                                     World of Welding

Dating back to Spring of 1990, the first World of Welding was issued. It was an 8-page issue not including the
covers. That issue references a “newsletter” from the late 1970’s which was short lived due to an “extraordinarily
large student body training needs at the time”, said Mr. Jon Lang the schools President.
Since the first edition of the World of Welding, Hobart Institute has released over 120 issues on a quarterly basis.
The World of Welding is entering its 32 year of publication.
                                                                 nd
Today’s version is completely digital at www.worldofwelding.org and averages over 30+ pages and 20+ articles of
information. Our current digital subscriber count is over 60,000 recipients. Hobart Institute graduates and national
high schools/career centers are highlighted in each issue. Prior to digitization, Hobart Institute would hard print
and mail to over 7,500 subscribers with a substantial international mailing list.
The success of the World of Welding goes to our editors over the past 32 years. With so many issues being
created, putting this amount of continual information together is an incredible feat. It’s important to point out that
in the World of Welding’s existence, we have had only three

                                     for recruiting content experts.
Many thanks go to our contributors and advertisers who have
proudly shared stories, artwork, displayed products, job postings, “Ask Elmer” and technical information.
The World of Welding historically has been a tool for our alumni pool but has evolved into an industry
     resource.
We look forward to the next 120 issues coming from Hobart Institute of Welding Technology!
